Plan the final inspection call
If you need a Cary inspection before the next trade starts, identify whether it is a final inspection first. Cary’s published instructions make that distinction matter. Combine the correct scheduling method with a clear scope, so a new sub or supplier can prepare for the actual handoff.
Building permits and inspections
Cary Inspections and Permits handles the town’s building work. The Town of Cary’s Click2Gov instructions provide online inspection scheduling, results, and some administratively reviewed trade permits. The town also uses a separate plan-review submission system. Use its project instructions to choose the correct path instead of treating every application as a trade permit.
Cary’s instructions say all final inspections must be requested by phone. Its instructions list 311 and 919-469-4000 for telephone assistance. Use Click2Gov for eligible online requests and results, but plan the final-inspection call as its own task. Have the responsible contractor confirm what applies to the permit.
Housing figures and growth areas
In 2025, the Cary permit-issuing jurisdiction authorized 687 new privately owned housing units, including 431 units in one-unit structures. The total was 1,052 units in 2024. These are Census Building Permits Survey estimates with imputation. 2025 place data, 2024 place data.
The figures cover the whole permit-issuing jurisdiction, including any cross-county portions. They measure units authorized, not permit documents, starts, completed homes, or open jobs. Do not allocate them to a single county from a mailing address.
Census Vintage 2025 estimates put Cary at 183,582 residents on July 1, 2025, versus 182,173 on July 1, 2024. Those same-vintage estimates describe population, not a forecast of trade work. Population dataset.
The Imagine Cary Community Plan includes the Eastern Cary Gateway among its planning topics. Use the plan to research the intended character of an area before discussing a redevelopment or new-build scope. A community-plan designation does not establish current zoning approval or an available building lot.
Questions for trades and suppliers
For a kitchen, bath, or addition, assemble the cabinet, countertop, electrical, plumbing, and finish scopes together before asking each company for a price. Mark appliance locations and who supplies fixtures. This is a suggested coordination method; it is not a claim about Cary’s share of remodeling work.
For a new house, ask the window and exterior-door supplier to coordinate the opening list with framing documents. Ask the installer to identify responsibility for preparation and flashing. A product substitution needs a named decision maker before it becomes an instruction to the crew.
For final work, talk with the trade about corrections and the return visit. Ask what remains open and who can answer an inspector’s question. A supplier should know which approved item the punch work requires, rather than receiving a photograph without a product reference.
Make a closeout list that distinguishes work complete, inspection requested, inspection passed, and correction outstanding. Add the town record and contractor contact beside each relevant item. That gives a replacement trade a usable explanation of the remaining job and helps you avoid treating a scheduling request as clearance to close the work.
Local builder connections
The NCHBA local association directory lists Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties; Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County. Ask the chapter about current meetings and membership. These are independent associations; no Cercha partnership is implied.
If your next job is in Apex or Morrisville, use that town’s guide to check the office and inspection route. Keep its permit record separate from your Cary closeout list.
Use the Triangle hub to choose another local guide. Before contacting a new company, use finding subcontractors around Raleigh to prepare a scope-specific inquiry. The builder resources cover the wider hiring task.
Use the Wake County building permit guide to compare county-served sites with municipal workflows. Confirm the parcel’s authority before using a county portal.
Where Cercha fits
Cercha Technologies opens its app beta in the Triangle first. Search by trade, ZIP code, and radius, then use portfolios and builder or sub endorsements to begin evaluating fit. Messages can start a scope conversation; confirm dates and current credentials directly. Ask about beta access for your location; this page does not confirm address eligibility or available local members.
